Details
Shortly before 2pm North West Fire Control received multiple calls about smoke issuing from the roof of a terraced property. On arrival, crews found a fire in a ground floor flat and wearing breathing apparatus they used a hose reel water jet to extinguish it. A high pressure fan was used to clear smoke. Neighbouring properties were checked with thermal imaging cameras to ensure the fire had not spread. One casualty was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and burns and taken to hospital by ambulance crews. Their injuries are not believed to be serious. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, but it is believed to have started accidentally.
