UPDATE AT 18:20 | City Road in Chester is closed in both directions while crews deal with a fire at a disused hotel. Two teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have been deployed inside the building to tackle the fire on the first and second floors. Please avoid the area if you can.
UPDATE AT 19:00 | The fire is now extinguished and crews are checking the building as a precaution. The road remains closed. An investigation into the cause of the fire will now commence.
UPDATE AT 20:45 | Relief crews are now at the scene, continuing to damp down. A search of the building is complete and all persons have been accounted for. As such, ambulance crews are no longer required. City Road remains closed.
UPDATE AT 22:20 | Resources have been scaled back to one fire engine, which will remain at the scene into the night to continue monitoring the building. There will be a final update in the morning.
