One fire engine from Middlewich, one fire engine from Crewe and the animal rescue unit from Bollington

Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision involving two cars on the M6 southbound between junctions 18 and 17. One of the vehicles, which was towing a horsebox carrying a horse, had overturned as a result of the collision.
Crews stabilised the horsebox and worked alongside a vet to safely release the animal. The motorway was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
