Details
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are working in sectors to tackle a large fire with hose reel jets, which is affecting two properties. Two are well alight, while a third is being protected by firefighters who are using covering jets to prevent further spread. There is a large emergency service presence at the scene. Residents are advised to close their windows and doors due to the large amount of smoke. Station Road has been closed by Police - please avoid the area and respect the cordons. UPDATE 20:50 | Following the major fire, we can confirm that three homes have been affected by the blaze on Station Road, Mow Cop. Two detached bungalows were well alight, and a third two-storey house sustained significant damage to a garage and the surrounding area. All residents have been accounted for. As a result of the fire, around 20 neighbouring properties may experience power outages due to the electrical isolation of the affected properties. Utility companies are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We have been told that phone lines in the area are not affected. UPDATE 22:20 | Final update for this evening as firefighters remain on the scene and will throughout the night. Crews will continue to apply water to the affected properties and surrounding areas. The number of fire engines at the scene has been reduced, and relief crews have been brought in. An update will be added in the morning.
