Just before 8pm, North West Fire Control received multiple reports of a fire in the open on Middlewich Road. On arrival they firefighters found a fire involving a number of sheds, hedgerows and trees.
Firefighters are using breathing apparatus and hose reels to tackle the fire.
UPDATE 20:45 - the incident has been split into sectors and crews are making good progress. Six firefighters are using breathing apparatus, four hose reels and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
UPDATE 21:25 - the fire is now under control and crews are damping down the area. They will remain at the scene for a couple of hours.
UPDATE 22:25 - crews remain at the scene damping down.
UPDATE 23:30 - firefighters have now left the scene
