Firefighters were called to reports of a car smoking on the M56. On arrival, all persons were safely out of the vehicle, which was on the hard shoulder. Two lanes of the road were closed while the incident was dealt with.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to cool the engine compartment of the vehicle, which had overheated. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots.
