Permanent full-time position
The main purpose of this job is to Lead and deliver a high-quality personal development King’s Trust Team Programme for young people aged 16-25 to support their ongoing development into education, employment or training; promote key safety messages and deliver awareness which aims to reduce casualties and fatalities in Cheshire.
You may also be required on occasion to support Targeted Youth programmes, Safety Central programmes and events delivered by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service to children, young people and adults across Cheshire as required.
Duties will cover/ include:
Delivering the King’s Trust Community, teamwork and Employability Skills Qualification to young people aged 16-25.
Implementing an effective recruitment strategy to maximise team numbers and having a balanced programme with support strategies to retain young people.
Attend three residentials per year and organise the safe and efficient running of the residential trips.
Liaise with peers, alongside local employers, employment services and partner agencies to establish work experience placements and post programme referral routes.
Liaise with peers, alongside partner agencies and community groups to secure projects, final team challenge groups and potential fundraising activities.
Complete King’s Trust paperwork for each team ensuring all appropriate quality documents for the college and King’s Trust are completed.
Monitor and mark learner records/logbooks ensuring they meet the awarding body and college standards.
Gathering feedback and evaluations for your team, carrying out surveys and monitoring the young people after the completion of the programme.
Act as a mentor, assisting young people on the programme to overcome personal difficulties by providing support, guidance and leadership, developing personal skills to improve employability skills.
Maintain team records as required by CFRS, funding College’s and King’s Trust and assist young people with college administration.
Carry out initial assessments and devise action plans to support young people when required.
Keep records of learner progress and carry out leaving assessments to give an overview of individual learner progress whilst on programme.
Essential requirements of the role include:
BTEC Higher (or equivalent) in Youth/Education qualification OR minimum 2 years’ experience in a youth/education setting, along with GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English at Grade 4 ( C ) or above.
Proven work and experience in a supervisory capacity.
Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, health and safety and experience of implementing risk assessments.
Experience in supporting young people within an education setting, with excellent communication, numerical and verbal skills, and experience in marking and assessing coursework.
Hold a current UK drivers’ licence (with willingness to gain D1 category to drive a minibus).
Highly motivated with the ability to engage with young people, peers and partnership agencies, whilst prioritising and managing workloads.
