The main purpose of this job role is to lead and shape Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's strategic approach to safeguarding and supporting children and adults at risk. This role provides professional leadership for the Persons at Heightened Risk Team, ensuring the Service meets its statutory safeguarding responsibilities while delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions that reduce risk, strengthen partnerships and improve outcomes for communities across Cheshire. As the Service's strategic safeguarding lead, you will influence organisational practice, drive continuous improvement and champion excellence in protecting those most at risk.

Duties of this role will cover/ include Providing strategic leadership for safeguarding and the Persons at Heightened Risk function across Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, setting the direction for service delivery and ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and best practice. The role provides governance and oversight of safeguarding arrangements, quality assurance, policy development, performance management and organisational learning

  • Setting the strategic direction and ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation, guidance and best practice.

  • Providing governance, quality assurance and oversight of safeguarding practice and case management.

  • Leading policy development, service improvement and organisational learning.

  • Representing the Service at strategic local, regional and national safeguarding partnership boards.

  • Leading inspection readiness, audit activity and performance reporting.

  • Working collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to improve outcomes for children and adults at risk.

  • Providing strategic oversight and support to the P@HRT Lead and P@HRT Supervision Lead, who are responsible for the operational management and supervision of the team.

  • Support the delivery of the Service's Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP), ensuring safeguarding, prevention and partnership activity contributes to achieving strategic priorities and improving outcomes for communities across Cheshire.

  • Work collaboratively across Prevention and with internal and external partners to develop and deliver innovative, evidence-based initiatives that reduce fire risk, strengthen community safety and improve outcomes for children and adults at risk.
