Starting salary of £33,366 (Pro-rata) within the Salary Scale SO1 range £33,366 - £35,235 (Level 4 Competent) +10% Market Supplement (reviewed annually)

Temporary - 6 month fixed term contract

The main purpose of this job roles is to inspect and prepare reports for all premises subject to statutory control. Enforce Fire Safety legislation through risk based assessment working with other relevant stakeholders and partners to achieve a safer community.

Applicants must hold a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety and be able to demonstrate knowledge in the area. The post will involve carrying out Level 4 audits and working with the office managers to deliver the office targets. Experience in carrying out audits/visits is desirable. The successful applicant will be provided with development and training.

Duties will include auditing and evaluating fire risk assessments within existing buildings to identify risks and hazards and assess if control measures are in place;

providing detailed technical advice, guidance and support on statutory and regulatory requirements; assisting the lead investigator in the collation of relevant information and compiling written evidence case files for potential prosecutions and the enforcement of legislation as well as taking a lead role in reducing unwanted fire signals and similar community fire protection activities.

Requirements of the role include:

  1. Completion of EdExcel Competency Framework for Business Fire Safety Regulators to Level 4 Diploma.

  2. Health and safety qualification or equivalent e.g. IOSH/NEBOSH

  3. Experience of working with the public and the private sector business community

  4. Experience of determining solutions to hazards and risks identified through inspection and investigation

  5. Application of fire safety codes of practice, technical guidance and standards

  6. Working knowledge of the principles of fire protection solutions

  7. Understanding of risk assessment principles and application

You must be willing to work flexibly (including occasional evening and weekend work)– and you may occasionally need to work in other locations across the service area.

You must hold a full UK driving licence.
