Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service offers Year 10 and Year 12 students the chance to spend a week gaining hands-on experience, developing key skills, and exploring a variety of careers within the Fire Service. Students will take part in operational, strategic, and community-focused activities while learning about teamwork, communication, and confidence, with opportunities to progress into Fire Cadets, and gain insight into future career opportunities such as apprenticeships, and youth development programmes.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is offering Year 10 and Year 12 students a one-week work experience placement, providing hands-on insight into operational work, community engagement, and educational programmes.
During the week, students will:
Experience a variety of roles across operational, strategic, and community-focused work
Develop key skills such as teamwork, communication, and confidence
Learn about the Service’s values and its commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Gain insight into potential future pathways, including Fire Cadets, apprenticeships, and youth development programmes
This programme is a unique opportunity to explore careers within the Fire Service, build practical skills, and experience life in a professional emergency service environment.
Students must be in Year 10 or Year 12
Must be available for the full week of the programme
Must live in, or attend a school/college in, Cheshire, Halton, or Warrington
Complete all elements of the work experience application form fully to progress to interview and selection
The programme offers 12 places, and while we welcome all applications, we are only able to accommodate a limited number of students.

Applicants notified: w/c Monday 9 February 2026
Interviews: Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, Monday 23 February 2026

Other Service sites across Cheshire may be visited
Students are responsible for their own travel
All parties must complete all elements of the work experience application form fully, including student statements, teacher endorsement, parental/carer signature, and cadet leader statement (where applicable)
