Eid

Eid is celebrated to mark the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, and the preparation of special celebratory meals increases the risk of cooking fires during this time.

By taking just a few simple precautions you can greatly reduce the risks for yourself and your family.

Eid - fire safety tips

  • Ensure you have working smoke alarms on each level of your home.

  • Test your smoke alarms regularly to ensure they are operational.

  • Take extra care around naked flames when wearing loose-fitting clothing.

  • If clothing catches fire, remember to stopdrop, and roll.

  • Never leave cooking or candles unattended.

  • Be wary of hot oil and never fill oil pans up higher than 1/3 full.

  • Plan out escape routes in case of fire, and make sure everyone knows them.
