Firefighters have been called to a fire in a disused building, which involves the first and second floor. They are wearing breathing apparatus and tackling the fire with hose reels. Police are in attendance and have closed the A51, Nantwich Road while the incident is being dealt with. Update at 00:30 - The aerial ladder platform has been set up and is being used to fight the fire from above, due to the fire breaching the loft space. Crews have set up a water relay to feed jets being used at the rear of the listed premises. Any water run off from the fireground is being managed and the Environment Agency has been informed. Update at 01:00 - Firefighters are making good progress at this incident and the fire has been reduced. A main water jet is being used by firefighters working from the aerial ladder platform, to enable them to get water onto the fire from above. The road will remain closed while we are dealing with this incident. Update at 02:30 - The fire has now been extinguished and fire engines have been have been reduced. Crews are continuing to damp down and are removing parts of the roof area to fully extinguish the area. Temperatures around the building are also being taken. Update at 07:30 - Relief crews from Malpas and Crewe will continue to monitor the building for hot spots of fire. The road has now reopened. Update at 09:15 - A relief crew from Audlem is now at this incident and Highways Agency has dealt with water on the road. Update at 10:30 - Firefighters are collecting up any equipment not in use and one hose reel is still available to damp down the building. Update at 12:15 - A fire engine from Audlem is still in attendance at this incident and its crew is ensuring there are no hot spots of fire. An investigation to establish the cause of this fire will take place shortly. Update at 17:00 on 5 February - This incident is now closed. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately nine and a half hours. Update at 14:30 on 5 February - An investigation to establish the cause of this fire has now been completed. It is believed the most probably cause is deliberate.
