Details
Firefighters were called to a report of a fire involving a waste lorry on the M62 motorway. After inspecting the lorry they discovered smoke issuing from the waste materials inside.
The lorry was escorted to a nearby recycling centre, where the waste was deposited and crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
The cause is believed to be a lithium-ion battery pack, which firefighters separated from other waste and placed in a container of water to prevent re-ignition.
