Updates from Warrington Borough Council FINAL FLOODING UPDATE TONIGHT, 2.15AM We are seeing water levels drop below their earlier peaks. Where initial assessments from the Environment Agency were that water levels would continue to rise, until around 4am on Sunday 21 September, we are hopeful that this will now no longer happen. Some households have been affected by flooding and a number of sandbags have been distributed to properties at particular risk. We also continue to advise people to be vigilant of flood alerts and flood warnings. We are hopeful, however, that based on current intelligence, any further potential flooding will not be as severe as predicted. So, while you should please remain vigilant, no further action is currently required. Given the latest detail we have on predicted future water levels, the Council, Cheshire Police, and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are de-escalating our response. FLOODING UPDATE - 12.15AM There are currently a number of flood alerts in place across Warrington, alongside flood warnings for: - Sankey Brook at Gemini Areas at risk include commercial and retail property off Europa Boulevard at Gemini Industrial Park. Additional properties at risk include parts of Fairbourne close. - Some areas in and around Dallam near Sankey Brook and Dallam Brook Areas at risk include Chepstow Close, Colwyn Close, properties on and around Higham Avenue, Tavlin Avenue, Hodgkinson Avenue, Marshall Avenue, Hawleys Lane and Mullen Close. - River Bollin and Agden Brook at Little Bollington Areas at risk include properties at and around Bollington Mill and Bollington Hall farm. Also at risk property on Lymm Road adjacent to Agden Brook. Council crews will be attending some areas around Sankey Brook and Dallam Brook to support with sandbags, though resources are very stretched. The risk of flooding is going to increase throughout the night, up to around 4am. Because of this, and as a precaution, Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service will be supporting the evacuation of some households. If they visit your household, please follow their advice. If you cannot find alternative accommodation (eg with friends or family), a warm rest centre has been established at Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub, Green Avenue. The decision to evacuate residents is not one we take lightly, but we do not want to risk households being breached with people still in their homes, particularly if there are elderly people or vulnerable residents or families. While many residential properties at risk of flooding will be visited by Police, and Fire and Rescue services, the advice remains that if you have been flooded and cannot safely leave your home (eg if water is too deep), please call 999.
