Firefighters were called to a fire inside a large barn (around 10 by 30 metres) in Betchton.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus were divided into three sectors and used three hose reel jets to fight the fire, which was well alight.
UPDATE 13:50 Firefighters are still dampening down the fire, and the straw is being removed from the barn.
UPDATE 16:00: The incident has been reduced to two fire engines. Two hose reels are still in use and relief crews are working with staff from the farm to remove the smouldering hay and extinguish it.
