Fire in the bin store of flats in Macclesfield

Crews responded to a fire in the bin store connected to a three-storey block of flats. The fire was causing smoke logging throughout the communal areas, and some of the flats were also affected. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. High-pressure fans were used to clear the smoke from the building. Crews carried out precautionary checks for any remaining smoke or fire spread with thermal imaging cameras. All flats were also checked with gas monitors and confirmed to be safe. All residents were accounted for, with paramedics also in attendance to check over everyone who was evacuated. UPDATE 20:45 - Firefighting has now concluded, and crews are packing away equipment. A fire investigation will take place.
