Crews were called to a road traffic collision involving nine vehicles on the M56, between junctions 12 and 14. A full road closure was put in place while the incident was dealt with.
Firefighters carried out checks on all vehicles involved, and used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots. National Highways, police and paramedics were also in attendance.
All vehicles were moved to the hard shoulder, and all persons were safely accounted for and given precautionary checks by paramedics.
At 08:05am, debris was cleared from two lanes of the motorway, and one lane was reopened to allow traffic to pass through.
Firefighters left the scene at approximately 09:00am, and the incident was handed over to National Highways.
