Emergency services were called to a collision involving one van that had overturned in the first lane of the carriageway between junctions 16 and 17 on the M6 North.
Firefighters removed the windscreen to free one casualty and a dog. The casualty was handed over to paramedics at the scene. All four lanes were closed while the incident was dealt with.
At 14:30 fire crews were making up equipment. Delays are expected in the area while traffic clears - please check before you travel.
