Firefighters were called to a chimney fire at a house on Egerton Street, Runcorn.
Crews located the fire and checked for any signs of fire spread within the chimney and roof space using thermal imaging cameras.
Firefighters used a 7‑metre ladder and the aerial ladder platform to inspect the chimney from roof level and dampened down the area with a hose reel jet. Chimney rods were also used.
A full internal and external inspection was completed before crews left the scene. The occupier was advised not to use the log burner until the chimney has been professionally inspected and cleaned. Crews left the scene at 05:20.
Police were also in attendance and closed the road while the incident was dealt with.
