Firefighters are currently at the scene of a building fire on Townfield Lane in Frodsham. Local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke from the incident. The road has been closed by police.
UPDATE at 15:15 - the building is approx 75m x 25m and the fire ground has been split into sectors with firefighters using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a ground monitor to tackle the fire.
UPDATE at 16:10 - good progress is being made is tackling the fire and the number of fire engines at the incident will be reduced shortly.
UPDATE at 16:30 - a mechanical digger is being used to assist firefighters while dampening down.
UPDATE at 16:45 - firefighters are expected to remain at the scene overnight.
UPDATE at 18:05 - the incident will be reduced to two fire engines. Crews are continuing to dampen down.
UPDATE 08:00 on Sunday 26 April - one fire engine remains at the scene. Firefighters have been dampening down the scene overnight and using thermal imaging to check for hotspots.
