Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out a car fire on the hard shoulder of the M56. The westbound carriageway was closed while crews dealt with the incident. At around 11:45, firefighters carried out final checks using a thermal imaging camera and began packing away equipment. The incident was then handed over to Highways, to manage the clean up of an oil spill affecting all three lanes.
