Firefighters attended a large fire to the rear of Catherine Street involving several sheds and outbuildings, as well as piles of rubbish including wood and domestic waste.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and extended hose reels to tackle the blaze. Crews remained at the scene for several hours, extinguishing hotspots, turning over waste and dampening down the affected area.
The cause of the fire is suspected to have been deliberate. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police online (link below) or by calling 101. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers.
No injuries were reported.
