Crews were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles, one of which was well alight, in Warrington. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots. The second vehicle was made safe.
Five people were assessed by firefighters. Two casualties were handed into the care of paramedics, with one later taken to hospital.
Police were also in attendance and closed the road while the incident was dealt with.
A nearby telephone pole that had been affected by the fire was dealt with by the utility company.
