UPDATE 14:00 | Firefighters remain in attendance at a fire involving a lorry trailer, now confirmed to be carrying a mixed load of cardboard, paper and glass.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus have been tackling the fire inside the trailer using hose reel jets. The trailer has been detached from the lorry cab, and firefighters are using ladders to fight the fire from above.
Thermal imaging cameras are being used to monitor temperatures within the load. The High Reach Extending Turret (HRET) from Macclesfield is now also at the scene, with crews using its specialist "stinger" attachment to inject water directly into the trailer and drench the burning waste.
Firefighters will remain at the scene while they continue to extinguish hotspots and monitor the load.
One lane of the Barthomley Interchange roundabout has been closed by Highways while crews deal with the incident.
UPDATE 15:10 | The trailer has now been relocated to a safe site where all of its contents have been emptied out.
Firefighters and continuing to turn over the contents of the trailer and using the thermal imaging camera to monitor for any signs of remaining hot spots.
That is the final incident update, unless we are made aware of any significant changes to the situation.
