UPDATE AT 8:00 | Crews were initially called to deal with reports of a shed well alight behind two semi-detached houses. It is believed the shed contain gas canisters and despite the efforts of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using hose reel water jets to contain it, the fire spread to the first floor of one of the houses and then into the adjoining property. More fire engines and resources were mobilised and firefighters have been working throughout the early hours to tackle the blaze wearing breathing apparatus and using main jets, the aerial ladder platform and hose reel water jets. There have been no casualties and residents from neighbouring properties were evacuated while firefighters dealt with the fire. Attendance has now been reduced to three fire engines as the fire has been extinguished. Crews will remain at the scene this morning to continue damping down and determine the cause. UPDATE AT 12:50 | Crews will remain at the scene for a little while long damping down and helping to make the structure safe. There will be no further updates unless there is a significant development.
