Shortly after 13:20, North West Fire Control received multiple reports of a fire near Newton Road in Warrington. On arrival crews found a large grass fire measuring approximately 400 x 300 metres. Firefighters used hose reels and beaters to tackle the blaze, working alongside a farmer who used farm machinery to create a fire break.
The fire is believed to have been caused accidentally by a fire in a skip that spread to the field.
