Three fire engines from Crewe, Sandbach and Congleton

Crews were called to a car that was well alight on the M6 North. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area. Environmental protection equipment was deployed to prevent excess water run-off from entering nearby drains
Two lanes of the motorway were closed while the incident was dealt with. This is believed to have been caused by a mechanical fault.
