Three fire engines from Birchwood, Warrington and Lymm

Firefighters were called to a van that was well alight on the M6 southbound. Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down hotspots, which were identified using thermal imaging cameras.
National Highways attended and closed the road while firefighters dealt with the incident. The fire is believed to have been caused by a mechanical fault.
