Firefighters were called to reports of a canal barge on fire near Frodsham Street, Chester.
Crews found a barge well alight and used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel and main jet to put the fire out; with water supplies secured from a nearby hydrant and a portable pump.
Firefighters then secured the barge to the canal towpath to prevent it drifting.
