Four fire engines from Chester, Powey Lane and Ellesmere Port

Crews attended a car that was well alight on the hard shoulder of the M53. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and dampen down the surrounding area. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots.
Two casualties were assessed by paramedics at the scene.
National Highways attended to manage traffic and lane closures, and the incident was handed over to them.
