FOI 1722 - Hoarding Disorders

I’m helping to produce a 30-minute documentary about hoarding.

The programme will also look at the safety aspect of hoarding. So I have a few questions for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

1. What percentage of requests for fire safety checks in private dwellings are hoarding related?

It is not possible to answer the question as it has been presented.  We don’t record referral information in a way that we can extract this percentage.

2. How many properties are registered as being a fire or safety risk due to hoarding?

From our visits since 1/4/20 hoarding was recorded as a risk factor in 309 premises. We have 27 active cases where hoarding is a risk factor.

3.  Last year (or the most recent full year), how many incidents and fatalities were recorded where hoarding was a contributing factor?

None
