What course do firefighters complete for their trauma care/casualty care/first aid as operational firefighters?
CFRS currently complete a 3 day Rescue Trauma And Casualty Care (RTACC) course which was written for CFRS. to meet the Immediate Emergency Care standard, by our Medical Director and is accredited by Faculty of Trauma & Critical care, The ATACC group and the Royal College of Surgeons, London.
Is this done in-house or through an external provider?
This is completed internally (in house) and overseen by our Medical Director and the CFRS Clinical Governance Group.
What is the cost to the service either for certification costs if done in-house, or if done by an external provider, how much has been paid to them for this service in the last 5 years?
Certification is done through our Medical Director and the Clinical Governance Group, there is no certification cost as this is all internal.
