Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service require the Services of a Driving Instructor/s and to support its requirements for Service Delivery and Emergency Response. This challenging, rewarding and pivotal role will see the successful applicant join a team who deliver all Service driver training, inclusive of the new Emergency Response Driver Training Regulations.

The main duties of the role will be to plan, deliver and assess Large Goods Vehicle courses, Emergency Response Driver Training courses and Emergency Response Driver Training refresher courses. In addition, the role will also encompass light vehicle driving instruction; to support this there is a requirement to hold an Approved Driving Instruction (ADI) qualification or be willing to achieve this on commencing the role. It will also include the occasional acting as an Invigilator for the delivery of the LGV and PSV Theory Tests.

Requirements of the role include:

  • To hold a clean current Large Goods Vehicle Licence.

  • To hold a clean Light Vehicle Licence.

  • To hold an ADI qualification

  • To have Instructional and Assessor experience as a Driving Instructor in light and Large Goods Vehicles.

  • To have Instructional or driving experience as an emergency response driver.

  • To hold a teaching qualification.

  • To hold the NFCC Emergency Response Driving Training Course

The successful applicant will work Monday to Friday and there is a requirement for occasional evenings and weekends. Consideration will be taken for this role to be completed on a full-time, part-time or flexible basis. Candidates’ preferences will be discussed at the interview.
