Cadet leader

We are looking for volunteer cadet leaders to join our cadet units at the following fire stations:

  • Warrington

  • Runcorn

  • Northwich

  • Nantwich

  • Winsford

  • Middlewich

  • Alsager

  • Sandbach

  • Crewe

  • Congleton

No firefighting experience is needed.

  • A typical cadet unit hosts up to 20 young people aged between 12 - 17 years of age, from varied and diverse backgrounds, who are supervised by 4 volunteer cadet staff.

  • As cadet staff you will support the scheme in providing the cadets with an insight into working within a uniformed service as well as encouraging them to develop personally, socially and with self- discipline.

  • In a team environment, cadet staff promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing by organising structured activities which develop cadets to take informed decisions regarding their future career and life opportunities.

  • The commitment to attend the weekly drill night at a designated station and on a regular basis is vital to this role. We do have roles within the cadet scheme that do not require involvement with drill yard activities; if you feel you are able to offer skills such as administration, events and activity support please do get in touch.

  • The duration of the drill night is normally three hours and will take place on the same evening each week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday dependent on fire station).

  • Volunteer cadet staff require a DBS check.

  • Your commitment would be an evening per week, 6pm - 9pm, with the possibility of weekend and holiday events.
