Cadet Leader

Hello there, name is Katy, and I’m a Cadet Leader at Chester Fire Cadet Unit.

I work for Message Direct as a Telephone Answering Specialist and I am a proud mum of two.

At Chester we have 15 young people aged between 12 - 17 years of age, from varied and diverse backgrounds, who are supervised by a team of volunteer cadet staff.

Our role supports the cadet scheme by providing young people with an insight into working within a uniformed service, while also encouraging them to develop personally, socially and with self-discipline. In a team environment, we promote physical, mental and emotional well-being by organising structured activities which help the cadets to make informed decisions regarding their future career and life opportunities.

I love volunteering - being able to guide our cadets, gives me a great sense of pride and happiness, seeing them flourish and achieve milestones as they travel the road into adulthood is truly inspiring.
