This is Heritage volunteer, John , in his happy place aboard the Dennis F1, affectionately known as NED, one of the five vintage display vehicles we have at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
John served as a Firefighter in the 1970’s, based at Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Cheadle fire stations, before retiring in 1986. John has always retained his can-do attitude, seeing, both the need for our historic vehicles to be maintained and displayed, to preserve the history of the Fire Service for future generations.
John’s passion for the vintage vehicles, especially NED, is plain to see, he always does his best to engage at the events he attends, Fire Station Open Days, local Christmas Markets and many Community Shows and Fairs.
Without the John’s of this world, so much history would vanish, stories from the past never relayed and experiences lost forever.
