Have you thought about being a firefighter with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service? Come and find out about the role at one of our practical taster sessions.
Our apprentice firefighter recruitment process is open from Monday 1 June until midday on Monday 15 June 2026.
We are offering anyone who wants to see if this could be the role for them the chance to come to one of our taster events at our state-of-the-art training centre in Winsford. You’ll have the opportunity to try out the practical tests, speak to serving firefighters and learn more about the role and the application process.
We’re building a workforce that truly reflects the communities of Cheshire that we serve and protect. While these taster sessions are open to all, we are encouraging people from underrepresented groups who may not initially think firefighting is a career for them, including women, people from minority ethnic communities/groups/backgrounds and the LGBT+ community. Women-only taster event at our state-of-the-art training centre in Winsford, led by our Limitless Women’s Network, designed to encourage and support women considering a career in the Fire Service and give them the opportunity to try out the practical tests, speak to female firefighters and learn more about the role and the application process.

Dress code - Gym clothing (no shorts) and comfortable shoes are ideal.

Places are strictly limited, so registration is required
You will receive a confirmation email with joining instructions after registering
You must be at least 18 years old by 11 January 2027, the start date of the apprentice firefighter course
Applicants who have attended a taster session previously should not register, to allow opportunities for new attendees
