Animal rescue-trained firefighters from Knutsford and Bollington responded to a report of a horse stuck in a bog in Siddington.
On arrival, they found Gem, an 18-year-old mare, with her back legs trapped in deep mud.
With support from Macclesfield firefighters, specialist equipment, and a nearby tractor, crews worked to free her. A vet was also in attendance to monitor her welfare throughout the rescue.
Once freed, Gem was walked around the field with no signs of injury and returned to her stable for a wash and warm-up.
