Firefighters attended a semi-detached property on Hulme Square, where timber frames at the front of the building were severely damaged following a car collision.
Neighbouring properties were evacuated, and a cordon was established. Crews isolated the electricity supplies, but a smell of gas required Cadent Gas to attend.
Cadent confirmed minor damage to the gas supply, which was later isolated externally. Most residents were allowed back into their homes, but two properties had to remain empty until structural concerns could be assessed by an engineer.
At around 02:25, fire crews left the incident with the police.
The affected residents were relocated until their properties could be assessed.
