Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a terraced property on Mellor Street.
On arrival, crews found a fire involving the ground floor living room of one property.
Crews used two sets of breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, one covering jet and a smoke curtain to extinguish the fire.
One casualty was able to evacuate the building via a first-floor window and was treated for burns, smoke inhalation and fall injuries before being taken to hospital by ambulance.
The fire is believed to have been accidental, with an electric heater identified as the probable cause.
