Firefighters attended reports of a vehicle on fire on the northbound carraigeway of the M6 motorway between junctions 18 and 19.
On arrival there was a car which was well alight in lane one of the carriageway. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a dry powder extinguisher to put the fire out.
A full closure of the northbound carriageway was in place while the fire was being tackled, with lanes gradually reopening after the incident had concluded.
