1. How many staff (as measured by full-time equivalents) do you employ to work on communications? Please include all internal and external communications including work on your website, media queries and social media.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service employs 10.2 full-time equivalent communications and engagement staff, looking after a wide-ranging programme of external, stakeholder and internal communications, campaigns, events and engagement.

2. What was your communication spending for the financial year 2021/22 and what is the budget for the current communications spending in the current financial year?

2021/22 – final in-year spend £417,870 (includes both salaries and non-pay items such as licences, equipment and venue hire).

2022/23 – budget £490,400 (as above re. salary and non-pay items. Spend at end of November 2022 totalled £337,186, currently under budget).
