Question Asked:

In each of the past five years, going back to January 1 2018, and into 2023 up to and including the date of receipt of this FOI request, where that data is held, please provide the number of instances where the fire service has been called out to attend a fire caused by e-scooters and e-bikes.

Further, in your data, please differentiate between instances where the callouts to fires were caused by e-bikes, and to fires caused by e-scooters.

Please find below the information requested regarding fires involving E-Scooters or E-Bikes between 1st January 2018 to date.

Please be aware that there is no specific category on our data systems for E-Scooter, Electric Scooter, Electric Bike or E-Bikes. The information provided is based on a keyword search for ‘E-Scooter’, ‘Electric Scooter’, ‘Electric Bike’ or ‘E-Bike’ on our incident recording systems. Therefore, the data provided may not include all fires involving E-Scooter or E-Bikes unless these keywords were recorded on the incident logs. The data also includes fires caused by E-Scooter or E-Bike batteries.
