• The number of fire brigade staff with second jobs in 2020

(By fire brigade staff, we specifically mean those on frontline firefighting duties)

Our Response:

Based on information supplied by staff and recorded in our HR system, please see below data as at 21 March 2024.  

• Please note that we do not always get notified when a secondary employment has ended therefore these figures are based on information we have received from staff.

• We employ part time On Call Firefighters, nearly all of whom have a primary employment with another employer, therefore their job with us is their ‘second job’

• We have staff who are employed both in a Wholetime role and in an On Call role (2 operational roles).  

• We have staff throughout the years who have On Call with a primary role elsewhere who then become dual role with CFRS all in the same year

• We have staff throughout the years who have dual roles then leave one and have a second job outside of CFRS all in the same year.

• We have staff throughout the years who have Wholetime roles and a second job outside of CFRS, who then become dual role within CFRS all in the same year.
