Subject: Fire at Warrington Hospital in March 2018

Question Asked:

I am writing to request any report(s) into the cause(s) of the fire at Warrington Hospital in March 2018 and the response(s) to the fire held by the Service.

I am also writing to request any report(s) of lessons learned as a consequence of the above and how these lessons have been implemented.

Our Response:

The cause of the fire was determined as accidental, this was from an electrical source within the lift motor room within Kendrick Wing. Due to being accidental no fire investigation report was completed; this is normal procedure for any accidental fire.

The Service did not complete any lessons learnt exercise with this particular incident.  A structured hot debrief will have been completed on-site involving all relevant parties and issues discussed that will have been remedied.  The Service has dedicated hospital fire safety officers who are well linked with all of our hospitals across Cheshire.
