Subject: Gender Breakdown of Applicants at Interview Stage for Wholetime Firefighter Recruitment in 2023

Please may you provide me with:

The number of males and females that made it through to the interview stage and the number of those males and females that were successful at being offered a Whole Time Fire Fighter position in your previous recruitment campaign of 2023. (Eg. 10 females at interview and 10 females offered positions. 90 males at interview and 10 males offered positions)

Our Response:

I refer to our communications throughout the Whole-time firefighter recruitment campaign which advises that only top-ranking applicants will make it through each step of the process and no advantage is given to any particular group of people during the process.

In 2023, 152 applicants were successful at practical assessment and invited to interview. Of those 124 identified as male and 28 identified as female. The top performing 27 people were subsequently offered a position as whole-time firefighter with Cheshire Fire and Rescue, of those 15 identified as male and 12 identified as female.
