Our Response:

Please see our response below to your Freedom of Information Request.

  • Any documents (including, but not limited to any policies, memos, communications, advice) regarding PFAS generally and/or PFAS exposure.

The Service has safety data sheets and user instructions that can be obtained from any of the foam manufacturers.

  • Whether you have, at any point, conducted any testing for PFAS levels in blood on any firefighters within your workforce.

The Service has not completed testing for PFAS level in blood.

  • If you have conducted testing, please confirm the type of testing carried out and provide the data results.

    Not applicable.

  • If you have not conducted testing, please confirm on what basis this decision has been made.

Foam is used very infrequently and therefore likelihood of being exposed is very low.

Firefighters are provided with personal protective equipment, respirators and breathing apparatus.

The Service has an ongoing replacement programme to removed all PFAS foam, which will be completed this financial year.
