Fire crews are currently in attendance at a large fire in the open on a farm in Haughton. Firefighters are using six hose reel jets to tackle the flames and stop any further spread. Update 21:30 - Firefighters are making good progress tackling the fire. The fire is believed to involve a large quantity of bale for farming and crews are expected to continue dampening down the flames for some time. A cordon will remain in place for the duration of the incident. Update 08:45 on 12 March - Relief crews are still in attendance and are continuing to damp down the affected area with one hose reel. At the height of this fire, which involved approximately 2,000 bales of silage and a large number of tyres, six hose reel jets were being used to get it under control. The firefighters were assisted by the farmer and together they made fire breaks around the fire to stop it from spreading. A good water supply from a nearby lake was needed to feed the hose reels and crews managed any water running from the incident. Update 12:20 - This incident closed at 10:30am and firefighters.
