Firefighters were called to a bin wagon that was well alight in Widnes. The road was cordoned off while the incident was dealt with.
The contents of the wagon were removed, and two hose reel jets, as well as snap drags, were used to extinguish the fire. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots.
