Would it be possible to gain the following information please?

Regarding the services outside/secondary employment policy, does your service allow its uniformed employees, including its protection staff, to undertake fire safety work in a private capacity such as fire risk assessments, fire training and other fire consultancy work outside the boundaries of the service area?

Our current policy states:

The Service will not give permission for staff to be employed or engaged by another organisation (other than another Fire and Rescue Service) to undertake fire risk assessments in premises to satisfy the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Staff who are employed by another Fire and Rescue Service to undertake such activity should only do so if suitably trained/qualified by that employer.

This policy is currently under review.
